ANNOUNCEMENT OF A VACANCY FOR THE 2021 SUMMER SPELL HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMS
DIRECTOR SUMMER PARTNERS FOR LANGUAGE AND LEARNING (SPELL) SOMERVILLE HIGH SCHOOL
Program Goal: Summer Partners for Language and Learning (SPELL) provides Multilingual Learners theme-based language development experiences and academic content support.
SPELL runs from July 6 – August 6th. A mandatory Professional Development and classroom set up day will be scheduled during the last week of June. SPELL Director planning and preparation responsibilities commence upon confirmation of hire.
SPELL High School Director: Preferred Qualifications:
•ESL/ELL License and five years of experience in teaching English Language Learners •Experience supervising multi-dimensional program(s) (student safety, program planning, supervision of staff, interns, and volunteers, managing supplies, etc.) •Experience and aptitude for building and sustaining collaboration with community partners •Experience in program development, curriculum design, monitoring student progress, and in providing professional development to staff •Ability to maintain a safe and healthy environment for students; maintains and responds to social and emotional needs of students and staff •Knowledge and appreciation of cultural difference; commitment to removing barriers to equity, access, and inclusion •Bilingual/multilingual and ability to communicate with diverse students and families
Terms of Employment: Stipend:$6000
