ANTICIPATED SPECIAL EDUCATOR FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Two Rivers Supervisory Union is looking for a dynamic teacher in special education to work at an elementary school level in the Two Rivers Supervisory Union. The position is a full time position. The special educator will provide services at Ludlow Elementary School in Ludlow, VT.

The special educator will work with a small multi-disciplinary team of professionals to meet the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students.
The special educator will work with students and assist staff in designing and implementing behavior management strategies with the goal of improving student achievement, increasing engagement in learning, and strengthening the culture and climate of the school. A working understanding of and alignment with the concepts of Social Thinking, trauma-informed classrooms, and Multi Tiered Systems of Support.

Roles and Responsibilities:

•Provide individual and small group instruction for identified students.
•Maintain records on progress of students to identify difficulties, track progress and justify treatment.
•Possess a working knowledge of Special Education Law, writing Individualized Plans, adapting curriculum, and inclusionary practices.
•Collaborate and communicate effectively with teachers, special educators, related service providers and families to develop and implement individual or group programs.

Job Requirements
The candidate must hold or be eligible to receive certification as a special educator in Vermont. A master’s degree is preferred. Only completed on-line applications at Schoolspring will be accepted.
