Job Description
ANNOUNCEMENT OF A VACANCY FOR THE
2021 SUMMER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

The Calculus Project Summer Program
Learning Designers & Learning Facilitators
EAST SOMERVILLE COMMUNITY SCHOOL

Job Goal:
The Somerville Calculus Project supports black and Latina/o students as they explore and develop a deeper appreciation of mathematics. Once students are enrolled, the Calculus Project remains with them throughout their journeys towards academic success, self-exploration, social impact, and a love of learning. Each summer, students come together for 4 weeks of deep, rigorous, engaging math experiences. The Calculus Project experience encourages students to bring their full selves, commit their minds to their personal development, and to be designers of their futures. They explore what it means to be “a person like me” both for their current selves and for the people they wish to be. We aim to expose students to possibility and eliminate self- and socially-imposed mental constraints.

Our students think flexibly, face challenges with courage, and strive for their personal best. We are searching for staff members who will do the same. Staff are expected to be on campus 5 hours each day, with an optional, compensated, 1.5 hour after school component for those who are interested.
