PT Chief Examiner (HiSET)

Job Goal:
The High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) is a new way for people who didn't finish high school to earn a diploma and get on track for college or a career. The exam has five parts: Math, Science, English, Social Studies, and Writing.

•Bachelor degree
•Current experience in testing procedures and prior experience proctoring tests.
•Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills
•Knowledge of standardized testing and measurement
•Spanish, Haitian-Creole or French speakers preferred
•Computer literacy as related to HiSET data base
•Have the ability to interact effectively and courteously with test takers and test center personnel;
•Experience working with adult learner population a plus;
•Excellent oral and written communication skills;
•Excellent organizational skills;
•Other duties as needed

•Assume all responsibilities as directed by the HiSET and State DESE HiSET Office
•Administer, operate, schedule for the HiSET Test Center at SCALE
•Handle all issues and concerns related to providing the HiSET testing to special populations, agencies, and organizations.
•Arrange testing rooms; answer test taker's general (procedural) questions; check examinees registration confirmation and valid identification;
•Monitor and account for test materials periodically throughout the testing;
•Proctors both the computer and paper base exams (not simultaneously).
•Develop a written, HiSET-specific emergency plan (see page 40 of this manual), and train all test center personnel to follow the plan.
•Select, train and monitor Proctors.
•Conduct investigations into test compromises and testing irregularities; follow E T S policies and procedures for reporting these irregularities.

Terms of Employment:
•Proctor weekly testing on Tuesdays and Wednesdays 3:30-9:00pm
•Administrative prep and planning hours; Fridays from 1pm - 5 pm.
•Up to 15 hours per week (September-June)

Since 1974, SCALE has provided classes and support services to more than 1,200 adult learners (16 years and older) annually who need basic reading, writing and math skills, English instruction for non-native speakers, or a high-school credential. SCALE's fully accessible facilities have a computer lab and an on-site HiSET Test Center. ELL and ABE classes are free.
