Job Description
Ayer Shirley Regional School District is looking for an Elementary School Psychologist for the 2020-2021 school year to promote and assist academic, social, emotional, career and learning development for all students; to serve students, in collaboration with parents, teachers, staff, and the community by assisting with individual planning interventions and through referrals in collaboration with partners (e.g., teachers, parents, outside agencies/organizations), and to use a comprehensive approach to facilitate the development of all students to achieve personal excellence.
Duties Include:
  • Counsel students with social/emotional/behavioral needs in small group and individual counseling.
  • Parent communication, teacher consultation, and coordination of Section 504 accommodation plans.
  • Work collaboratively and consult as a team member with teachers, principals, and other school personnel for purposes of identifying, evaluating and recommending interventions for the adjustment of students.
  • Meet with parents as needed to obtain information, and/or to suggest interventions to provide support for students in need.
  • Responsible for the individual counseling of IEP and 504 students with social/emotional goals as determined through the team meeting process.
  • Attends IEP/504 meetings that are attached to caseload, and any additional requested meetings. May be asked to write social emotional goals, Part A assessments, and any other appropriate paperwork as needed.
  • Works in conjunction with Special Education and Student Services Department.
  • Responsible for writing social emotional goals, Part A assessments, FBA, and any other appropriate paperwork as assigned.
  • Communicate with third party providers as appropriate to each student.
  • Evaluate cognitive, social and emotional functioning, and needs of students referred.
  • Meet with parents as needed to obtain background information, and/or to suggest interventions to provide support for and carry-over of Special Education services at home.
  • Meet with TEAM as required under Special Education regulations and laws.
  • Submit all reports, IEPs and mandated paperwork within mandated timelines.
  • Maintain inventory of appropriate tests, materials and supplies
  • Other duties may be assigned

Job Requirements
Hold a valid license through the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a School Psychologist <li>LICSW or LMHC in addition to DESE certification helpful.
