Job Description
Rutland Public Schools seeks a dynamic, diligent, creative, student-oriented, experienced school teacher for the Rutland Middle School as a Humanities Integrationist.

The successful candidate will be a member of the BRIDGES team, whose goal is to cultivate a compassionate learning community where student voice is valued and learners are engaged in authentic learning experiences. The team will work collaboratively to develop a robust, experiential focused instruction that marries concepts in both the humanities and STEM while building students’ social-emotional skills. Student growth will be fostered through personalization, project-based exploration, hands-on application, problem solving and critical thinking skills.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible, qualified teacher endorsed or capable of being endorsed in one of the Humanities, or an Educational Technology Specialist. The educator should have the skills required to teach students in grades 7-8 independently, as well as operate in a tri-fold manner as a teacher, co-teacher, and integrationist/coach supporting other teachers.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

•Working collaboratively to develop curricula and engaging and relevant learning experiences that addresses middle school standards through an interdisciplinary approach
•Building strong partnerships with students’ families
•Communicating effectively with students and families about classroom activities and student progress
•Implementing Project-Based Learning techniques and strategies
•Facilitating and designing effective group work
•Identifying and supporting students’ individual social, emotional, and behavior learning needs

BRIDGES educators must appreciate and welcome the challenges and rewards of working with learners who have a history of struggling in a traditional school environment. The goal of these educators is to work collaboratively and to think holistically about the child as a learner in order to develop interesting and rigorous pathways that promote on-going and personalized growth.
