Somerville High School Evaluation Team Leader (Due to Conversion)
SOMERVILLE HIGH SCHOOL

Job Goal: The Somerville High School Evaluation Team Leader will lead the initial and re-evaluation process for students at Somerville High School, assist with compliance monitoring, and engage with students and families as partners in the special education process.

Qualifications:
?Commitment to educational equity for students with disabilities.
?Somerville Public Schools actively seeks applicants with diverse backgrounds.
?Proficiency in a language or languages other than English is preferred
?Master’s Degree in Special Education, School Psychology, or related field.
?At least 3 years as a special education teacher, school psychologist, or related field.
?DESE Licensure in Special Education, School Psychology, or related field.
?Experience teaching and working in an urban setting, strongly preferred.
?Demonstrate knowledge of special education law and regulations.
?Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
?Ability to effectively partner with families.
?Excellent organizational skills.

Responsibilities:
?Assist special education department head to oversee building based special education process to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
?Review special education paperwork completed by special education liaisons.
?Chair initial, re-evaluation, reconvene, and manifestation meetings and complete all related paperwork within timelines.
?Coordinate annual review meetings with special education liaisons.
?Conduct educational evaluations (e.g. WIAT-III), as needed.
?Act as special education liaison for select students including walk-in students.
?Actively participate in Tiered Focus Monitoring process as required by DESE.
?Outreach to families to facilitate the special education process.
?Coordinate with school counseling department.
?Maintain compliance and confidentiality.
?Assist in facilitation of special education department staff meetings.
?Engage in and assist in leading professional development through the district, school, and special education department.
?Other related duties, as assigned.

•As per the Somerville Teachers Association, Unit A Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Position Reports to: Somerville High School Principal and Director of Special Education or designee
