Qualifications:
•Bachelors or higher level degree in Music Education
•MA DESE Certification in Music Education K-12
•Strong communication skills, both oral and written
•Exemplary interpersonal communications skills that establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents and members of the community
•Experience in teaching Pre-K and Elementary Music in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual environment
•Thorough knowledge of Kodaly/Conversational Solfege pedagogy
•Proficiency in multi-cultural music genres and traditional genres
•Commitment to changing lives through music education
•Certification in current best practices for Autism in Music Education

Essential Functions of the .20 Autism Interventionist in Music Education:
•Provide small group or one-on-one music instruction to students with special needs who are placed in a substantially separate classroom environment.
•Provide Professional Development to SPS Music Educators in the area of special needs and inclusion.
•Consult with Music Educators, Special Educators, and Paraprofessionals on strategies, methods, and other ideas to better include students with special needs in the mainstream music classroom.
•Communicate and connect with outside organizations and groups to provide resources and opportunities for students with special needs in music.

Position Reports to:
•The School Principal, Director of Special Education and K-12 Supervisor of Music
