Job Description
RNESU is accepting application for 1:1 and Program Paraeducators for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year.

The Paraeducator is responsible for helping to provide academic and behavioral support to students as needed. This is to be accomplished in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures. The Paraeducator will be responsible for supporting students within the classroom or community setting. They must ensure the development and safety of students and be respectful of the students and their parents.

The following qualifications are required:
• Associates degree or equivalent

The following are preferred:
• Previous teaching or related experience
• Understands accommodations and classroom expectations while providing student support
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in accordance with federal, state and RNESU requirements
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with students, parents, staff and members of the community
• Ability to work harmoniously and collaboratively with others
• Knowledge and experience with basic principles of child development, effective methods of dealing with children, and curriculum and instruction

Rutland Northeast Supervisory Union is located in the north east section of Rutland county and the south west section of Addison County, Vermont. The supervisory union supports six elementary schools and one middle/high school. RNESU is dedicated to the development of character, competence, creativity and community and serves the towns of Brandon, Chittenden, Goshen, Leicester, Mendon, Pittsford, Sudbury and Whiting. Our region is rich in outdoor activities and includes many opportunities to engage in a wide range of outdoor activities and sports as well as cultural activities. Nearby attractions include the Paramount Theater in Rutland City, known for its exceptional line up of music and entertainment, and Pico Mountain, located in the town of Mendon. Rutland County is in the Green Mountain Forest. Both the Appalachian Trail and Long Trail merge in the town of Mendon. Killington Mountain, just 10 minutes from Pico Mountain boasts the best skiing in the east and includes four season activities. There are many beautiful golf courses in our region and we are extremely close to New York through road, ferry or bridge travel. Local colleges include Castleton University, The College of Saint Joseph the Provider, Green Mountain College and Middlebury College.

RNESU serves approximately 1, 500 students from PreK through 12th grade. Our percentage of students on Individual Education Plans is 15.5%. This year five of our district’s schools have poverty levels of 40% or higher.

Successful Applicants must be team players, well organized, be able to multi-task, demonstrate knowledge of educational systems and supports, be comfortable with technology, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
