Job Description
ANNOUNCEMENT OF A VACANCY FOR THE 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR ANTICIPATED Fall and Winter Competitive Cheerleading Coach - Yearly appointment and Pending budget approval SOMERVILLE HIGH SCHOOL

Responsibilities:
A coach is directly responsible to the Director of Athletics. The coach of an individual sport must realize that any activity sponsored by SHS Athletics is part of the total program offered by SHS. Individuals in charge of such activities must utilize sound educational principles and goals if athletics are to be a worthwhile part of the overall school program. Some of the duties of the coach shall include:
• Practice and competition arena coaching duties
• Practice preparation and execution
• Planning tryouts and choosing the team
• Attending Fall Varsity Football games with the team
• Attending home Winter Boys Varsity Basketball games with the team
• Making sure no ineligible student is participating
• Collecting all uniforms once the season ends
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications preferred:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Strong communication skills
• Knowledge of MSSADA rules
• Potential for coaching certification
• Previous coaching and/ or cheering experience preferred
