ELL Tutors
Elementary Schools, Grades K-8 and High School Grades 9 - 12

Job Goal:
The Somerville Public Schools is now accepting applications from qualified educators for ELL Tutor positions after school tutorial program. The Somerville Public Schools ELL Tutorial Program will be offered two afternoons per week, or hours to be arranged, onsite at each of our K-8 elementary schools and Somerville High School. Flexible evening, vacation week, and weekend tutoring hours may be scheduled based on student needs and availability.

• Provide academic intervention to individual students and small groups of 5 to 7 students who qualify for ELL tutoring;
• Provide skill development reflective of students’ academic needs in order to assist students in attaining the DESE grade level standards;
• Review and utilize district standardized assessment data to determine students’ individual learning needs; including: ACCESS., MCAS, and MEPA to inform the development of a Student Learning Plan;
• Complete all record keeping, write student learning plans and progress reports, track student attendance, and log tutor hours.
• Communicate with classroom teachers about academic goals
• Communicate with parents and guardians as needed
• Incorporate best English language development and literacy practices into tutor sessions.

• Massachusetts D.E.S.E License (ELL and/or SEI Endorsement) preferred
• Bachelor’s degree;
• Experience teaching or knowledge of ELL Students; and
• Experience teaching or working with ELL students.
• Basic computer literacy
