Job Description
POSITION: Special Education Teacher

LOCATION: Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School

EFFECTIVE: Immediately

SALARY: Per collective bargaining agreement between DYRSC and DYEA

Work Hours: School Days, M-F, School Year

Essential Job Functions:

Provide student who is severely disabled and medically fragile with an instructional program specially designed to meet with needs of students with cognitive, communication, orthopedic disabilities and/or health issues.
-Implement Individual Education Program (IEP) for student.
-Provide direct instruction and services to student.
-Facilitate communication through use of AAC devices (Tobbi).
-Monitor student progress as it relates to established IEP.
-Work as a member of a trans-disciplinary team for planning and implementing data-based instructional programs.
-Provide information and support to parents when appropriate.
-Assist in identifying, developing and implementing appropriate us of resources for instructional application.
-Maintain effective working relationships with parents, school personnel and other staff.

If students want a class we do not offer in our school, they can take the course online through the Cape’s largest Virtual High School program. Our 8th Grade Early High School program has experienced tremendous success with its emphasis on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). We offer many electives including technology classes, a strong art program, and a first class music program. Students can balance classroom academics with work-based learning internships in the community so they can see how their knowledge is put into use in a real world setting. Job Requirements
Must have MA certification in Special Education. Must have valid driver's license and be able to drive to student's home to provide instruction. This position includes working the Extended School Year 6-week summer session.
