ANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY FOR THE
2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR

Makerspace Activity Coordinator
JOHN F. KENNEDY SCHOOL

Job Goal: Utilize technology to support core instruction for deeper and more meaningful
educational experiences; create a learning culture in which students can learn to persevere through
problem-solving struggles, collaborate, and innovate to develop creative solutions to real world and
curriculum-based problems.

Responsibilities:
• Principal meetings every 2-3 weeks and as needed
• Organize materials in MakerSpace
o Provide staff with a product map
• Coordinate use of Makerspace
• Calendar maintenance
• Develop partnerships / connections with local experts and innovators
o Parts and Crafts - Somerville, MA
• Establish “Go To” people for various Makerspace activities aka “MicroPockets”
o Activities Include, but not limited to:
? BeeBots
? LegoWeDo
? Scratch Jr
? Drawbots
? Wearable Electronics
? Stop Animation
? MakeyMakey
• Organize school clubs for before / after school hours
o stipend pay for teachers
o volunteer parents
o Grades K-4 club and 5-8
• Find parent volunteer(s) to organize this
• Coordinate PD hours for Staff with Lesley
• Research alternative PD opportunities for staff
• Research and develop entry point activities for gr K-8 with curriculum connections to MakerSpace with current materials
• collaborate with teachers for meaningful planning
• Source quality materials for upcycling to be used in MakerSpace
• Create organized area for materials
• Create and maintain a Kennedy STEM lab account on Twitter and to connect our space to the community

Terms of Employment:
• This position will run from September 2018 through May 2019
• 100 hours over the course of the school year
• Stipend of $2500

Qualifications:
• Science Massachusetts Educator’s License Preferred

Position Reports to: Principal of the John F. Kennedy School
