Job Description

General Description:

The public schools of Brookline, a large, dynamic, diverse and exciting school community, is seeking an experienced school nurse who will serve in a pivotal role that bridges health care and education.


Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provide direct nursing care to students; assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, management and referral as indicated
  • Implement and record required screening programs; notify parents when further medical evaluation is indicated.
  • Documentation of health office visits into electronic health record system
  • Prepare and maintain student health records, including current immunizations as mandated by state regulations. Create Individual Health Care Plans for students with health care concerns.
  • Administer daily and PRN (as needed) medications and nursing care procedures prescribed by the student's physician.
  • Collaboration with staff in development of 504 or IEP’s as indicated
  • Initiate emergency procedures for students and staff as needed.

Requirements Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing; Current MA nurse license;
  • Current CPR certification;
  • DESE certified; Minimum of 3 years school nurse experience


Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a nurse, preferably in pediatrics, emergency or public health
