Job Description
The Amherst Public School District is seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of Math Specialist at Fort River School. The Math Specialist will provide direct math intervention services using evidence-based programs and will support efforts to make decisions based on data and research-based math practices. Math Specialists are building-based positions that will support a school’s Response to Intervention (RTI) and Child Study Team (CST) processes as well as the coordination of of math intervention services. The Math Specialist will provide resources and coaching to classroom teachers as to how they can provide Tier 1 math intervention in the classroom. The Math Specialist will work collaboratively with other building-based Math Specialists so that coaching, professional development, and systemic planning can be tailored to meet the needs of students.

Massachusetts DESE Math license is recommended, elementary general license required. Knowledge of AVMR and other math Intervention Programs is highly desirable, as is Spanish bilingual ability.

Duties:
Manages the collection, organization, and sharing of student math data for the purpose of informing and improving instruction
Coordinates and provides math intervention services to students
Oversees the monitoring of student progress for students receiving math intervention services Provides professional development/coaching to teachers and paraprofessionals to ensure consistency and quality in math instruction
Utilizes data and knowledge of research-based math practices in decision making
Orders and manages math materials.
Plans Family Math Night
Supervise paraeducators as assigned
Works collaboratively on a leadership team (along with Reading Specialist, administrators, and others) at the school level to assist with systemic planning and implementation
