Job Description
We are seeking a candidate for a Autism/Behaviorist Specialist for the Amherst-Pelham Regional School District to provide services for secondary school students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and/or significant behavioral needs. The primary responsibilities will include assessments, Team participation and IEP development, development and implementation of behavioral plans, direct services to students, consultation to staff, staff training and participation in the ASD/Behavioral district wide group.

The BCBA will function as a support to the preschool special education programs and students in the elementary school. The BCBA will serve as the point person for teams and administrators seeking assistance in developing strategies and interventions to support progress of identified students. The BCBA will work collaboratively with teachers to provide support, training, and consultation. The BCBA will provide consistent classroom observation and feedback sessions to support individual teacher professional improvement needs by modeling and pre-/post-reflection. The BCBA will support teachers in the implementation of behavioral support plans, support student inclusion in the general education setting, collection and analysis assessment data, and development of intervention strategies.

Qualifications:
BCBA preferred
Expertise with assessment to include FBA’s
Expertise in development, implementation, and monitoring of behavior plans
Expertise in Applied Behavioral Analysis
Expertise in development and implementation of data collection systems
Knowledge and understanding of social/emotional and mental health issues
Familiarity with trauma informed practices
Strong positive, interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships with students, staff and families
Highly effective oral and written communication skills
Highly effective time management skills
Strong case management skills

Bilingual and bi-cultural candidates are strongly encouraged to apply
