POSITION: Administrative Assistant, Assistant Superintendent’s Office

Assistant Superintendent’s Administrative Assistant provides support to the Assistant Superintendent in all aspects of the functions of the Assistant Superintendent’s office, including professional development, home schooling, educator evaluations, and curriculum development. This position requires the commitment to maintain confidentiality, competence in communication, technical/professional skills, organizational/analytical skills, and knowledge in performance of duties and responsibilities. This position will work collaboratively with the Superintendent’s Office, Payroll Department, Human Resources Department, Business Office and all other schools and departments within the Arlington Public School District. Must also have the ability to work independently, attend to detail, and meet frequent deadlines.

• Associate’s Degree or other relevant training and work experience.
• Experience and training in supporting fast-paced office environments.
• Proficiency in working with Microsoft applications: Word, Excel and Power Point.
• Proficiency in working with Google documents.
• Excellent organizational, management, oral and written communication and human relations skills are essential.
• Currency and fluency in technical skills and willingness to learn emerging computer technologies as needed.
• Ability and willingness to share technological expertise with other staff members in daily work and in staff development activities.
• Promotes a positive work environment and supports the goals of the Arlington Public Schools.

• Provide administrative support to the Assistant Superintendent
• Respect the confidentiality of the office; handles all matters flowing through the office with discretion.
• Assist with professional development activities, including ensuring that PDP’s are awarded to staff for in-house professional development activities.
• Draft and prepare correspondence and reports.
• Maintain effective electronic and paper filing systems
• Manage home schooling requirements and maintain files of home schooling.
• Serve as a resource person for school committee, central office administrators, principals, curriculum directors, staff, and community members.
• Use technology effectively in all aspect of the job to enhance efficiency.
• Assist Central Office Administration with specific projects as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent
• Perform other administrative support functions as necessary and other duties as assigned.
