PLC Team Leader
PILOT – LEADERSHIP MODEL DEVELOPMENT (1 YEAR POSITION)
PATHWAY: PROFESSIONAL COLLABORATION
SOMERVILLE HIGH SCHOOL


Job Goal: Foster a community of purposeful collaboration among staff focused on addressing high-leverage, shared instructional challenges. Facilitate a school culture of reflection, inquiry, and problem-solving through collaborative collection and analysis of formative and summative data, and use of evidence to inform decisions. Improve the consistency and quality of learning experiences and instruction for all students across grade levels and the district.

Responsibilities:
• Lead and facilitate teacher collaboration on a school-sponsored, professional team designed to improve student learning and staff experiences
• Lead the team to set goals and identify high-leverage focus areas
• Plan regular team meetings with clear goals and expectations
• Use effective facilitation skills to support collaboration, team dynamics, and productive dialogue
• Promote ongoing problem-solving and reflection tied to priority goals and focus areas
• Support the collection and collaborative analysis of evidence and data to measure the impact of the team’s work
• Communicate with key personnel about progress, challenges, alignment of goals, and other relevant topics
• Create an atmosphere of trust and collaboration among staff that will promote professional growth and accelerate the achievement of all students
• Document and disseminate team meeting minutes, outcomes, and next steps
• Collaborate with administrators and other educator leaders to share best practices, problem solve, and build leadership skills
• Participate in targeted leadership professional development
• Attend meetings for the pilot program throughout the 2019-2020 school year


Qualifications:
• Demonstrated skills in meeting facilitation and leading teams
• Capacity to build trust and ownership among educators
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills with teachers and leaders
• Ability to gather multiple types of evidence and data to inform the work
• Experience facilitating collaborative data study to inform instructional practices
• Can make connections between big picture of system with details
• Goal and action oriented with ability to monitor milestones and progress
• Committed to educator reflection, agency, and empowerment
• Knowledge of best practices and research-based strategies for professional and adult learning and collaboration
• Skilled at conflict resolution and courageous conversations
• Comfortable delegating tasks
• Possesses attributes of resilience, humility, and risk-taking
• Advanced degree preferred
• Must hold a STA Unit A-eligible position

Terms of Employment:
• $2,000 Stipend

Position Reports to: Building Principal or designee
