INTERIM ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF STUDENT SERVICES
DISTRICT WIDE – CENTRAL ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES

Job Goal: The Assistant Director of Student Services will provide district leadership, organizational management, professional development, and a cadre of professional supports to both students and staff in our schools.

The Assistant Director will assist the Director of Student Services in all phases of safety, health and behavior management for all students. Primary responsibilities will include the coordination of clinical services, coordinating and assessing initiatives around school attendance, behavior management and mental health services, and the development of systems and structures in MTSS to support our students and staff. In addition, the Assistant Director of Student Services will assist in the bridging of home and school, addressing related barriers to education, engaging our families and promoting a healthy school culture for all students.

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Possession of a Master’s Degree or higher
• Massachusetts licensure in school counseling, social work, or school psychology
• Clinical experience working with students and families in an urban school setting
• Demonstrates knowledge of PBIS, and/or Progressive Discipline and Restorative Justice
• Culturally proficient in speaking, writing, and engaging a diverse, multi-lingual population
• Ability to use MS Office, Aspen/X2, Easy IEP, and Elevations

• Special Education certificate in teaching preferred

Responsibilities:
• Attends weekly “Student Support Teams” SST meetings, and provides social emotional support & procedural guidance to all schools
• Coordinates clinical services including, safety assessments, crisis evaluation, case conferences and trauma response on challenging student cases
• Assists in the management and supervision of students on 504 Accommodation Plans; recommends policies, programs and accommodations essential to the needs of 504 eligible students
• Assists in the coordination of all therapeutic supports with outside agencies and vendors and their contracts.
• Communicates with families and caretakers in an informed and culturally proficient manner about sensitive and confidential issues related to a student’s well-being and social/emotional health
• Assists in the coordination and implementation of social competency curricula and the MTSS model throughout the district
• Assists in the coordination of events with external providers, including student and parent trainings and professional development for staff.
• Assists team facilitation on projects or task forces designed to enhance student services and promoting a healthy school culture
• Facilitates in the professional development for staff in behavioral and social-emotional skill building to ensure student regulation and safety
• Liaison to City Health and Human Services Department, including Nursing Director and Staff and Clinical supports
• District Liaison to DCF (Department of Children and Families)
• Liaison to Crossing Guard City Coordinator
• Acts as the District Bullying Coordinator, offering support and guidance to all District Bullying policies and procedures to Principals
• Performs other tasks as assigned by the Director of Student Services
