ANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY FOR THE
2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR

Director of Student Services
DISTRICT WIDE

Job Goal: The Director of Student Services focuses on providing continuous support to all students in the areas of Safety, Health, and Behavior Management. The successful delivery of these services is dependent upon a three-way partnership among the students, parents and the school. In the performance of these functions, the Director of Student Services supervises administration and staff designated by the Superintendent of Schools.

Responsibilities:
• Under the direction of the Superintendent of Schools, monitor, support, and enforce district goals relative to student health and safety and monitor facilities safety;
• Support district personnel and building principals with all issues related to student attendance and discipline;
• Supervise and support Assistant Director of Student Services and Supervisors of Attendance;
• Address and respond to parent complaints;
• Coordinate District 504 Accommodation Plans, policies and procedures;
• Prepare and present reports concerning student attendance for appropriate school and state agencies;
• Perform quality assurance reviews of documentation, reports, and files assembled by others, that are used for formal hearings and proceedings;
• Act as a liaison with Law Enforcement agencies and other agencies;
• Investigate complaints of student absence, neglect or abuse from public agencies and others;
• Review, revise, recommend and disseminate system-level goals and objectives as they pertain to student services;
• Act as district Discipline Appellate for 37H, 37H1/2, and 37H3/4 discipline infractions;
• Final decision maker for all Residency issues;
• District coordinator for Emergency Preparedness, including safety, lockdown and fire drills;
• Coordinates Drop-out prevention program, including submission for all DESE reporting;
• Manages enrollment for Extended Learning Programs;
• Assist Parent Information Director with all Inter-district Transfers; Support when requested with New Student Enrollment cases;
• Coordinate all General Education Referrals to alternative programing, including ELP, FC and NW;
• Provide and Facilitate, along with SST staff, District Professional Development Trainings, including: Bullying, 51A, 504, Child Find, Lockdown, SST meetings, De-escalation, SEL, Cyber-safety, Vaping education and prevention;
• Performs other tasks as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or designee;

Qualifications:
• Master’s Degree
• Mass DESE licensure as a Supervisor/Director or Administrator
• Capacity to communicate effectively with diverse populations
