Job Description
POSITION: ESY Summer Program Special Education Assistants

LOCATION: Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District

LEVEL: ESP I/Step 1 per DYRSAA contract (Previous experience may be considered by the Superintendent with an adjusted step)

SCHEDULE: Summer Position Only
Up to 6 weeks
Monday through Thursday, up to 3 hours per day
Location and hours will be determined when enrollment is complete

EFFECTIVE: July 8, 2019 through August 15, 2019

QUALIFICATIONS: Previous experience working with students with disabilities preferred. High school diploma required. Must meet the requirements of NCLB. Must possess an ability to work with students with a variety of disabilities. CPR training a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Toileting may be required; working with Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 children who have significant disabilities including autism and complex medical needs. May be required to ride the school bus.

The Office of Pupil Services provides all students with disabilities ages 3 to 22 the services they need to access their education in the least restrictive environment. Massachusetts’ Tiered System of Support allows students that may be having difficulty in the classroom to get intervention services. Students may qualify for a Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act Plan if they have a mental or physical disability and require some accommodations and/or services. An Individual Education Plan is written for students with one of ten disability areas who cannot make effective progress without specialized instruction.
