Job Description
The coach is directly responsible to the Director of Athletics and Principal. (In the case of an assistant coach, he/she is responsible to the head coach)

Applicants must be available for duty throughout the season outlined by the principal’s committee on athletics. This will include any tournament for which the team might be eligible. Practice sessions are held daily.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

1. Teacher fundamentals and skills

2. Organize practice sessions

3. Provide for prevention and care of injuries

4. Conform to the rules established by the Principal’s Committee on Athletics

5. Teach rules and regulations of the sport

6. Display good sportsmanship

7. Responsible for issuing, maintaining and collecting of equipment

8. Supervision of team members at all times

REQUIREMENTS

The coach should have a complete knowledge of the sport. Experience at the secondary or college level is desired requisite and previous coaching experience will be strongly considered.

4. NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest

5. First Aid / CPR card

    Application Requirements:

    1. To be employed as a coach in the State of Rhode Island, it is necessary to be certified by the Rhode Island Department of Education. Candidates should determine their certification eligibility prior to applying for employment.

    2. To be employed by the Cumberland School Department all candidates must have an updated state and national BCI check completed prior to employment.

    3. Only completed application packets will be reviewed.

    4. All completed application packets must contain three (3) current letters of recommendation. At least one letter of recommendation must be provided by a supervisor.

    5. All completed application packets must contain a copy of a current First Aid Card and CPR Card.
