Job Description
Assistant Superintendent of Student Services
SEIU Local 888 Union Member Position

  • Experience working with special education administration and special education staff.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a highly energetic and busy office setting.
  • Familiarity with special education grants and budgets.
  • Full working knowledge of Google, Microsoft Office, and X2.

  • Professionally manage all of special education office’s correspondence and appointments.
  • Oversee special education state and federal reports.
  • Completes clerical assistance for Program Managers.
  • Communicates with Shore Collaborative regarding RMTS.
  • Liaison to ELT for OOD students’ transportation needs.
  • Liaison to Program Managers for in-district students’ transportation needs.
  • Customer-friendly, direct, and open communication with parents/guardians of transported students.
  • Customer-friendly, direct, and open communication with transportation companies.
  • Liaison for summer school OOD and in-district students’ transportation needs.
  • Current and accurate data collection of all transported students.
  • Inventories, organizes, and orders supplies for special education office and staff.
  • Maintaining at all times confidentiality of students’ records and correspondence therein.
  • Maintaining at all times confidentiality of all communications within the special education office.
  • Responsible for organizing interviews and maintaining the paperwork for all new hires.
  • Current and accurate special education database.
  • Responsible for keeping office machines maintained and in full working order.
  • Assisting, when necessary, other special education clerical assistants.
  • Generating contracts for independent consultants.
  • Processing independent evaluation requests and associated paperwork.
  • Maintaining the budgets of OM, state grants, and federal grants.
  • Coordinating and tracking grant purchase requisitions and vendor purchase requisitions.
  • Scheduling all special education meetings.
  • Coordinating conferences and in-service training for staff.
  • Submits and tracks all translation services requests.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services.

    Reports To: Assistant Superintendent of Student Services

    Terms of Employment: Twelve month work year with daily hours of 7:30-3:30

    Salary: Grade 3 of the Clerical Salary Scale

    Position Type: Full-time
