Bus Driver


• Must hold a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a Passenger (P) Endorsement and a School Bus (S) Endorsement
• Must hold a School Bus Driver Certificate from the Department of Public Utilities (DPU)
• Must hold a School Bus Air Break Endorsement
• Acceptable CORI

General Duties:

Work includes transportation of students to and from school, field trips, and extracurricular/athletic events.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Responsible for driving school bus and transporting students as directed by the Director of Transportation.
• May be required for “in-town” field trips (and out-of-town field trips when feasible) as needed.
• May be required for extracurricular/athletic events when needed.

Effective date of employment will be for an undetermined period of time, beginning immediately.

An Act Relative to Background Checks

On January 10, 2013, Governor Deval Patrick signed into law H.4307, an act relative to background checks. The new law requires all newly hired employees, beginning in the 2013-2014 school year, to submit to state and national fingerprint-based criminal background checks.

As a new employee of the Weymouth Public Schools, you will be subject to a Massachusetts criminal background check (CORI). In addition, you will be required to submit to a National Criminal Background Check by fingerprint.

The fee charged is $55.00 for licensed educators and $35 for all other school personnel.
