JOB DESCRIPTION

Peer Supporter
(Pilot Program)

General Description: A Peer Supporter will work closely with educators (hereby referred to as “Peer Educators”) who are in need of additional instructional and/or professional support. Peer Supporters will be offered to certain educators as a resource for growth and development. Participation as a Peer Supporter and as a Peer Educator is completely voluntary.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

? Support a Peer Educator who has been identified as in need of instructional and/or professional support
? Create a confidential, non-evaluative, and supportive relationship with the Peer Educator
? Be accessible to the Peer Educator through in person meetings, e-mails, and phone calls
? Provide coaching, feedback, and encouragement in targeted, specific area(s) of the Peer Educator’s practice
? Encourage the Peer Educator to continue to grow and develop in his/her role
? Communicate with the administrator for Educator Development regarding any concerns/issues regarding the Peer relationship or work with the Peer Educator
? Attend three mandatory meetings – one at the beginning, one in the middle, and one at the end – to review processes and expectations for this role

Qualifications:
The Peer Supporter’s qualifications will vary as determined by the needs of the Peer Educator. The Peer Supporter will be appointed by the Principal/Supervisor/Director of the Peer Educator in consultation with the Superintendent or his/her designee as determined by the Peer Educator’s specific needs

Stipend: $1000 for a one (1) year appointment or $100/month for appointments of less than (1) year
Reports to: Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment or Appointed Designee
