Job Description
2018-2019 SCHOOL YEAR

Assistant Teacher - Childcare

Job Goal: As a member of a teaching team, this person will be responsible for assisting and participating in the planning and implementation of a safe, nurturing and developmentally appropriate experience for up to 16 children.

• Assist the Lead Teacher in ensuring the health and safety of each child
• Work cooperatively with team members
• Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing a curriculum using the state and NAEYC guidelines which addresses the group and individual needs and considers the developmental, cultural and socio-economic background
• Supervise the group of children/area assigned by the Lead Teacher
• Assist in keeping daily observations/records of each child in preparation for written progress reports
• Complete assigned assessments and meet with the parents to convey the information
• Assist the Lead Teacher by communicating when supplies need to be ordered
• In cooperation with the Lead Teacher, refer and discuss with the Program Director children in need of special services
• Meet with the Lead Teacher to complete and discuss performance evaluation and goals
• Assume the responsibility of the Lead Teacher role when the Lead Teacher is absent
• Attend and participate in staff and other meetings
• Participate in NAEYC accreditation
• Provide documentation of qualifications
• Provide documentation on Professional Development: trainings, coursework.
• Perform other related duties as required or assigned by the Director or Supervisor of Early Childhood Education

• Must meet department of early education and care and NAEYC requirements
• Certification in first aid and CPR or complete within 3 months of employment

Position Reports to: Director of Childcare or designee
