Welcome to Crisafulli Elementary!

The John A. Crisafulli Elementary School, serving children in grades three through five, opened the academic and administrative wings of the building in the fall of 2002. The kitchen, library, art, music, and gym were under construction. Built to house 525 students in 24 classroom spaces, it presently houses 435 students in 21 classrooms with eight third, seven fourth, and six fifth grade sections. During the inaugural year, routines were developed and the staff committed to creating a caring learning community. The kitchen became fully functional after four weeks of serving cold lunches. Students played in the rear of the building during recess, transitioned to the side parking/wood chipped area just before Thanksgiving. Art, music, gym,and library spaces became available in mid-November 02. Students and staff were extremely flexible about using alternative spaces as each part of the building opened. The greyhound dog was selected as our mascot with courage, caring, community, and perseverance serving as our main themes. The Crisafulli School experienced a smooth opening this fall. Two new parent council members were elected in May 2003 and a teacher representative this fall. The Council has updated the plan drafted last spring. The council is committed to teamwork and serves as an advisory group to the principal and forms and carries out its School Improvement Plan. The principal is dedicated to forming a culture that supports the achievement of all children.
