Welcome to Ron Jackson State Juvenile Correctional Complex!
The Ron Jackson State Juvenile Correctional Complex Unit I (Ron Jackson SJCC) is a facility of the Texas Youth Commission, the agency charged with administering the state's correctional facilities for delinquent youth. This fenced high-security facility serves youth who have been found to have engaged in delinquent conduct and were committed to the agency's care by a juvenile court.

The facility currently houses the gateway program for all girls entering the Texas Youth Commission. Here, every female youth committed to TYC undergoes an extensive orientation and assessment process before receiving her regular facility or dorm assignment. In most cases, girls will remain at the Ron Jackson complex to receive specialized treatment specifically designed for female offenders. However, depending on certain circumstances, some girls may be placed at TYC’s Corsicana Unit for intensive psychological treatment, or in contract facilities like the WINGS mother-baby program and program for pregnant girls.

Unit I began operation in September 1970 as a female offender program. There have been several program changes throughout the years as the agency has responded to changing demographics. Youth have the opportunity to earn a GED, High School Diploma and post college credit hours during their assignment at the facility.

The program is also supported by the involvement of approximately 90 volunteers who perform many services such as serving on the facility's advisory council, providing mentoring and tutoring opportunities, or offering religious education.
