Welcome to Oxbow High School!
We are a family of empathetic, inquisitive, and socially responsible learners who positively impact our world. In a rural town in the upper valley we truly are a community of learners. Small town community values with a desire to succeed in a big world makes Oxbow a truly unique place; both humble and also able to compete academically and athletically alongside much larger schools. Our school is one of the few in the area that offers AP courses and our graduates often take these credits on to colleges both near and far. Our athletics are of growing renown, especially our softball, track and cross country teams. Other highlights for extracurricular include a theater department, a vital music program, and study abroad programs.

Our small town setting offers lots of opportunities to be a part of the community and our location on the Connecticut River with many mountains nearby makes it an ideal spot of outdoor activities. Bradford is located about 30 miles north of the major economic/social center of Hanover and Lebanon, NH and White River Jct, VT and serves as the economic center for the immediate region, as the surrounding towns are more rural with smaller village centers.
Oxbow High School is a grade 7-12 union high school in Bradford, VT. Built in 1971, it serves Bradford and Newbury Town School Districts and accepts tuition students from other Vermont and New Hampshire towns. The comprehensive offerings allow our students to learn in a traditional setting that embraces universal design and project-based learning. Students have the opportunity to attend classes in the adjoining River Bend Career and Technical Center (RBCTC) whose schedule complements their home school of Oxbow High School. In addition, our dual enrollment courses offered during our regularly scheduled school day.

Opportunities for students are offered outside the regular school day including programs that are extensions of the school day courses. Students participate in team sports of soccer, football, cross-country, golf, basketball, indoor track, skiing, snowboarding, bowling, baseball, softball, and outdoor track and field. Driver Education is offered as part of the school program.

Educational opportunities available to students in the Oxbow area also include a variety of programs through college institutions including Dartmouth College, University of Vermont, Vermont Technical College, NH Vocational Technical College, and through VSAC (Vermont Student Assistance Corporation.) Programs range from college credit courses to workshops that meet needs of students grades 7-12. These opportunities, along with the physical connection with River Bend Career and Technical Center, allow students to design personal learning plans leading to solid foundations for careers and college. Other institutions in the area include: Lebanon College/School for Lifelong Learning, Vocational Rehabilitation Services and several programs for Adult Basic Education and Adult Diploma programs. Educational opportunities also exist through adult education classes at Oxbow High School and River Bend, as well as offerings from other agencies and groups in the Upper Valley area.

Long before service-learning was an education buzzword, it was an integral part of our school philosophy. Our community and service learning projects run the gamut from individual to group activities, curricular to extracurricular, required to voluntary, and planned to spontaneous. These activities and projects affect the elderly, adult, and youth population of the area.

The degree to which this public high school is important to the area citizens is reflected in the level of support given to Oxbow. To gain that support the school has reached out to the community and has generally been rewarded with program and budget support from citizens, organizations, businesses and agencies.
