Job Description

The intent of this position is to provide preventive health services to facilitate the student’s optimal physical, mental, emotional and social growth and development.
Monday-Friday 8am-2pm.

  • Job Requirements

    • Promotes and protects the optimal health status of school age children.

      Provides health assessments.
      o Obtains a health history.
      o Screens and evaluates findings of deficit in vision, hearing, scoliosis, growth, etc.
      o Observes the child for development and health patterns in making nursing assessments.
      o Identifies abnormal health findings.

      Medicine management and confidentiality of all health conditions of students.


      Educational Experience:
      • Practicing Catholic in accordance with Canon 874 §1, 3?, 4? of the Code of Canon Law.
      • Is a licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Vermont, or an LPN.
      • Certified in CPR (or obtain in the first 6 months).
      • Minimum of one (1) year experience in public health nursing, community health nursing, school health nursing, or pediatric nursing.

      Develops and implements a student health plan.
      o Interprets the health status of students to parents and school personnel.
      o Initiates referral to parents, school personnel or community health resources for intervention, remediation and follow through.
      o Provides ongoing health counseling with students, parents, school personnel or health agencies.
      o Utilizes existing health resources to provide appropriate care of students.
      o Follows nursing required regulations and laws in terms of medicine management.

      Maintains, evaluates and interprets cumulative health data to accommodate individual needs of students.

      Ensures the Catholic teachings in regards to student health.

      Plans and implements school health management protocols.

      Develops procedures and provides for emergency nursing management for
      injuries/illnesses.

      Promotes and assists in the control of communicable diseases.

      Coordinates school and community health activities and serves as a liaison health professional between the home, school, and community.

      Provides consultation in the formation of health policies, goals and objectives for the school district.
    • At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred
    • Bachelor degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency OR WORK VISA IN United States required
