Glover Community School honors grit, compassion, and safety, and uses Responsive Classroom to establish a positive and safe school environment. Glover Community School has about 110 students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
Our school counselors promote student success, provide preventive services, and respond to identified student needs by implementing a comprehensive school program that includes class lessons, small student groups, and individual sessions. They assist individual students with problems and decisions involved in better understanding themselves and how to succeed academically and socially. They also serve as a resource for parents/guardians, teachers, and other adults involved with the students, and as a member of our collaborative school teams.
COUNSELOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Curriculum
Collaborates with other educators in the implementation of the curriculum
Implements developmentally appropriate and prevention-oriented group activities to meet student needs and school goals
Incorporates into the program the life skills that students need to be successful in the twenty-first century
Individual Student Planning
Assists all students, individually or in groups, with developing academic, career and personal/social skills, goals, and plans (including implementing PLPs)
Accurately and appropriately interprets and utilizes student data
Collaborates with parents/guardians and educators to assist students with educational, career, and life planning
Preventive and Responsive Services
Provides individual and group services to students with identified concerns/needs
Consults and collaborates effectively with parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and other educational/community resources
Implements an effective referral and follow-up process as needed
System Support
Coordinates specific programs and/or supports throughout the school community
Assists teachers, parents/guardians, and other stakeholders in interpreting and understanding student data
Collaborate with the school team to adequately monitor and support student activitities
Participates in professional learning activities to improve knowledge and skills
Uses available technology resources to enhance the school counseling program
Adheres to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the school counseling profession
The Orleans Central Supervisory Union is comprised of two school districts (Lake Region Union Elementary-Middle School and Lake Region Union High School) supporting six K-8 elementary schools, the Orleans Central Early Childhood Program, and Lake Region Union High School.
Orleans Central Supervisory Union is located in the heart of the Northeast Kingdom which is known for scenic and rugged area of hills, sugarbushes, farmland and lakes.
