Summit Academy schools are specifically designed for students with AD/HD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and related disorders. Summit Academy’s proven therapeutic academic program is designed to fulfill the academic, social, emotional, and physical requirements of students with special needs.
This position is for a High School English Language Arts for the 2023-2024 school year.
REPORTS TO: SCHOOL DIRECTOR
BASIC FUNCTION:
To provide the students under his/her direct supervision a quality educational program, which is appropriate for the assigned students that meets their ability and appropriate for the subject and personal growth and characteristics.
EMPLOYMENT MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
· Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree
· Valid Ohio Teaching Certificate or license
· Shall demonstrate knowledge, skills and/or abilities in the following four broad areas:
o Instruction
o Classroom
o Professional attitudes and growth
o Personal characteristics
· Appropriate criminal records check by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation and/or Federal Bureau of Investigation
· Meets all health requirements as mandated by law
· Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with all employees
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Demonstrate evidence of effective planning

· Demonstrate skill in using a variety of methods and techniques to meet the needs of the students
· Have a thorough knowledge of the subject matter being taught
· Show an interest in his/her classroom environment

· Demonstrate correct use of the written and spoken word
· Evaluate and report student progress on the approval reporting tool and as scheduled
· Follow Summit Academy’s Instructional Design
· Adhere to the teacher responsibilities set forth in the Teacher Handbook
· Establish and maintain positive rapport with people
· Establish and maintain a classroom routine
· Establish teacher expectation of students
· Uphold school rules
· Show evidence of a positive attitude toward: Colleague, students, parents/guardians, special service personnel, support staff, administrators, visitors/public
· Show evidence of participation in professional improvement activities
· Participate on school and/or district-wide curriculum committees
· Plan, implement, and complete an IPDP as prescribed by the LPDC
· Maintain professional behavior
· Dress professionally
All other responsibilities as set forth by the School Director and CEO.
