GENERAL DESCRIPTION (1-3 LINES DESCRIBING ROLE): | |||
Southborough Public Schools is looking to hire a dynamic, motivated, and collaborative educator to join the Mary Finn School.We are looking for an experienced educator who can assist Southborough public schools in the start of a FLES program at the Kindergarten and Grade 1 level for the 2023-2024 school year. The program will expand over time, eventually to grades 2 and 3, and then to grades 4 and 5.Once the program has been developed, we are anticipating students receiving Spanish instruction two-three times a week for thirty or forty five minutes. Southborough Public Schools is committed to providing all of our students with a joyful, interactive language acquisition experience, based on ACTFL proficiency targets.Candidates are expected to have native or near-native fluency in Spanish. Qualified candidates will have significant experience in content-enriched language instruction at the elementary school level (grades K-5). The ideal candidates will have a MA license in an elementary world language. Competitive candidates will be committed to student-centered teaching and have experience in teaching, developing FLES programs and/or curriculum, standards-based assessment, and collaborating with other teachers and administrators. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and management skills are essential to the role, as is a passion for working with elementary school students. | |||

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: | |||
Work Environment: Work is generally performed in a school environment during the school day, however there may be occasions for after school meetings/performance. Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the teacher is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear. The teacher is regularly required to bend, stoop, crouch and/or kneel. The teacher is occasionally required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Must have sufficient mobility to navigate within a large school building. Vision and hearing correctable to within normal ranges. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
