JOB TITLE:Accounts Payable Officer
REPORTS TO:Director of Finance

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent of five years accounts payable experience.
Governmental accounting experience a plus.
Demonstrates exceptional organizational and business/office skills.
Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
Strong computer and database skills including proficiency at Excel.
Ability to perform a variety of tasks daily.
SUMMARY:
The Accounts Payable Officer is responsible for processing Accounts Payable (AP) functions for Windham Central Supervisory Union and it’s member districts. The AP Officer is required to interpret general procedures as well as adhere to governmental accounting regulations. Accuracy and time management skill are critical in this position. Also, Communication is essential in this position, with the ability to present and clarify information to both employees and administrators. Success of this position lies in collaborating with all departments to maintain accurate records and to identify and solve problems related to AP processing in an effective and efficient manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
Process accounts payable cycle on a bi-weekly/monthly schedule in accordance with the Accounts Payable Procedure and board schedule.
Enforcement of internal control procedures related to accounts payable processing which includes: requiring authorization for payment, account code assignment, receipt of goods/services, and communicates with other departments to resolve issues.
Utilize purchase order encumbrance system when relevant and maintain payments within agreed to terms.
Establish and maintain vendor records.
Assist Director of Finance with financial reporting, reconciliation, and audit process.
Prepares, when necessary, financial reports for internal review by the Director of Finance.
Update monthly/yearly items that are tracked for potential efficiencies.
Prepares yearly financial reports including 1099’s.
Other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install computer equipment. Performance evaluated annually by the Director of Finance and Superintendent in accordance with responsibilities outlined above, initiative, leadership characteristics, skill in dealing with the unanticipated and success in meeting predetermined objectives.
