Job Description

Applications and Data Specialist

The Applications and Data Specialist maintains optimal performance, security, and user support for all Stern Center enterprise applications. Through accurate and timely data reporting and analysis, the Applications and Data Specialist supports effective organizational decision-making. The position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and plays a key role in establishing and assuring excellent client-first experiences across the Stern Center through effective systems management.

Duties and Responsibilities
•Achieve and maintain expertise in the use of all applications and utilities used at the Stern Center, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office 365, Blackbaud (Raiser’s Edge, Financial Edge), and Central Reach, our practice management system.
•Understand relationships between all applications and the data managed within each.
•Transfer data between applications using export/import tools to aid in efficient processes and consolidated reporting.
•Provide timely data reporting across organization, supporting direct employee access to relevant information on demand as much as possible
•Assist the COO and other organizational leaders in analyzing and interpreting data in a timely, accurate, and informative process.
•Serve as the primary support contact for new and existing employees and optimize use of applications by providing prompt troubleshooting, positive support experiences, and coaching on how to tailor use of applications to specific jobs at the Stern Center.
•Support client use of applications both directly and through coaching and support of other employees working with clients.
•Coordinate network support (security, backups, monitoring and maintenance) with external technology firm(s)
•Coordinate cybersecurity training, implementing and enforcing secure practices
•Reconcile systems to assure data integrity across platforms
•Set up new computers/new users and install appropriate applications for each user
•Maintain user accounts, permissions, and security settings for all applications.

•Ability to work in-person at our Williston, VT office as needed to support clients and users
•Strong, reliable internet connectivity if working remotely or on a hybrid schedule

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
•Must have expertise in Microsoft Excel and skill in using other Microsoft Office 365 applications
•Aptitude for learning software applications at the “super-user”/administrator level and applying knowledge to new situations
•Commitment to superior accuracy in numbers, processes, and practices
•Ability to think critically about how to use applications to perform business functions as efficiently as possible and to tailor use of
applications to specific needs
•Ability to teach users of all levels in a positive and supportive manner
•Commitment to the Stern Center’s mission as a nonprofit, and to an inclusive workplace
o Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or relevant work experience
