Job Description

Starting Base Pay for Paraprofessionals: $18.00 per Hour. More per hour for experience and/or education.

The Orleans Central Supervisory Union is comprised of two school districts (Lake Region Union Elementary-Middle School and Lake Region Union High School) supporting six K-8 elementary schools, the Orleans Central Early Childhood Program, and Lake Region Union High School.

Orleans Central Supervisory Union is located in the heart of the Northeast Kingdom which is known for scenic and rugged area of hills, sugarbushes, farmland and lakes. QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates degree or the equivalent college courses or successfully meeting the VT cut score on ParaPro

SUMMARY

Implement IEPs, 504 plans, EST plans, and/or Behavior plans. Motivates and supports students in learning and personal growth, according to each student's ability, in order to develop skills, knowledge, and a disposition for learning needed for continued education and/or work. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with students, parents/guardians, staff members, and other professionals to meet student development needs. Demonstrates appropriate decision-making skills, anticipate and/or respond to any given crisis situation.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.)

- Ensure students are supported in the classroom given direction from the Special Educator or School Principal in areas such as academics, behavior, and personal care needs.
- Able to be on time for job duration
- Transition easily within a variety of grades, classroom teaching styles, and children with a variety of disabilities
- Follow lesson plans from the classroom teacher, special educator, or nurse
- Maintain confidentiality
- Use time wisely and plan accordingly
- Assist children in academic instruction
- Able to effectively manage behaviors within a classroom and in a one-on-one situation
- Record keeping: work samples, Medicaid as required, etc.
- Trained to handle personal care issues when necessary
