Job Description

At Orleans Elementary, we work as a team to provide an educational program that will support the learning and growth of all students and staff members. Teachers hold primary responsibility for the instruction of content and, more importantly, the success of our students. We strive to prepare students with the academic skills, strength of character and social and emotional well being to excel in high school, attain their personal goals, and succeed in society.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic educator to teach in a self-contained third grade classroom beginning in the 2023 - 2024 academic year. Standards-based curricula, guided reading and literature-based instruction, and thematic units create the structure of our elementary instructional program. There is strong technology integration and on-going vertical teaming to ensure an interesting learning progression for all students. A strong assessment plan is critical to measures student progress and guide instruction throughout the year; we will be revising our current plan to better meet our instructional needs. We are looking for the ideal candidate to join our collaborative elementary team in support of all students’ learning, as well as their own professional growth.

Specific Responsibilities:
•Implement curricula to meet academic and 21st century standards;
•Ensure student mastery of academic and behavioral standards;
•Design and implement a variety of assessments to identify student needs and to measure student progress;
•Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices;
•Participate in curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions;
•Provide high and consistent academic and behavioral expectations for all students;
•Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues in support of student learning;
•Actively participate in on going embedded professional development and professional learning communities.

    • Qualifications:
      •A passionate belief in the potential of all students:
      •Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
      •Strong technology skills and the ability to fully embed technology into the instructional program
      •A willingness to pursue continuous professional improvement and refinement;
      •Intent to meet the needs of the whole child and support the social/emotional growth of students;
      •A valid Vermont Teaching License for the appropriate grade level;
    • Bachelor degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
