LICENSED ART TEACHER

League School of Greater Boston is an award-winning, year-round program dedicated to the education of children on the autism spectrum. Our team approach to education creates a collaborative, supportive and open environment within our community. We are currently seeking a LICENSED ART TEACHER. Annual salary starts at $57,500 plus a $2,000 SIGN-ON BONUS after 60 days; additional $2,500 for Special Education license, $5,000/year for Master’s degree. League School will help obtain required licensure for qualified candidates.

Position Requirements:
•Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree in Art Education preferred.
•Current Massachusetts DESE license in visual arts is required.
•Two years teaching/in special education, or related experience with autistic population is preferred. Experience with the tenets of Art Therapy and its application with autistic population is also preferred.
•CPR, Safety Care and First Aid certifications.
•Valid driver’s license.
•Must pass CORI background check.

Supervision Received: Assistant Director of Education

Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
1.Upholds the mission, vision, and values of League School of Greater Boston;
2.Completes assessments and develops goals for Individual Education Programs (IEP) and/or Transition Planning Forms (TPF) for students in conjunction with the team, as needed;
3.Designs and demonstrates differentiated instruction by using a wide variety of teaching techniques to meet the needs of all students;
4.Implements accommodations and curricular modifications as specified in IEPs, and as needed to meet the learning needs of students;
5.Develops appropriate programming and curriculum for art education, including fine motor skills, use of various materials, creation of work that is both teacher-directed and individual to a student’s interests, and coordinates the creation of products that may be used for sale in community opportunities;
6.Aligns lessons to enhance and support the development of skills as outlined in the “Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks” as mandated by the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE);
7.Collaborates with other professionals in a co-teaching model to create and implement lessons and activities that address students’ social communication and emotional regulation needs;
8.Plans, prepares, and teaches lessons and activities in accordance with goals and objectives outlined in students’ IEPs;
9.Plans, prepares, and teaches lessons and activities that address students’ social and emotional expression through art;
10.Creates and implements lessons that are predictable, relevant, interactive, and developmentally appropriate for students;
11.Collects, records, and documents data regarding student progress in instructional areas, as needed;
12.Develops therapeutic relationships with students to include behaviors such as the use of an appropriate voice volume, and setting reasonable boundaries with communication and actions, etc.;
13.Supervises their classroom/therapeutic space and students at all times (including on and off-campus outings) for social, safety, and community skills;
14.Provides a neat, organized, and safe classroom/therapeutic environment;
15.Follows schedules within the classroom and the school to provide structure and limit stimuli for the students;
16.Implements Student Support Plans (SSPs) as created and written by the students’ team;
17.Completes required documentation, as needed, including Incident Reports, Accident Reports, IEP goals and objectives, quarterly progress reports, report cards, etc.;
18.Develops curriculum content for the Art Education/Art Therapy Program via use of evidence-based theories and practices;
19.Coordinates and sets various art shows/programs throughout the year to display students’ work;
20.Assists in fundraising activities, as needed;
21.Works collaboratively with team members, including the vocational department, to create and implement student-made art projects and other items for sale to aid school fundraising efforts;
22.Evaluates equipment and supply needs, coordinates purchase of needed equipment and supplies, and oversees the maintenance of equipment and supplies within the department;
23.Closely monitors art education budget, including monthly reconciliation of expenditures;
24.Monitors health and safety of students and follows through with school medical staff on incidents requiring medical attention;
25.Uses Safety Care techniques, as trained, to intervene physically in emergency behavioral situations;
26.Keeps all student-related information and documentation confidential in accordance with FERPA, HIPAA and other state and federal mandates;
27.Completes orientation (upon hire), annual training, and other training as mandated by League School of Greater Boston, MA DESE, and the MA Department of Early Education and Care (DEEC);
28.Attends conferences, meetings, and professional development opportunities to expand knowledge base and as required for recertification and licensure;
29.Works collaboratively as a team player. Attends supervision, staff meetings, classroom meetings and program meetings, as needed. Comes prepared with agenda and ready to discuss issues and solutions;
30.Actively participates in “missing student” searches, sometimes during inclement weather, pursuant to the “Missing Student Emergency Protocol”;
31.Supports students and staff during fire drills or in the event of an actual fire or other emergency requiring evacuation;
32.Maintains regular attendance and reports to work prior to the beginning of the school day;
33.Performs other related duties, as deemed appropriate and necessary by League School of Greater Boston such as evening training, parent/guardian open house night, student art shows, etc.




Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Google Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Drive, etc.), Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Edge.
