Job Description

The Dover-Sherborn High School is seeking an experienced school psychologist for the 2023-2024 School Year to work within the special education department as a Team member. The school psychologist will evaluate students for eligibility for special education and will have a caseload of students who require counseling. In addition, the psychologist will consult and collaborate with school staff, teachers, administrators, and parents to support high school students. The psychologist will also work collaboratively with the school adjustment and guidance counselors to enhance social-emotional learning, mental health supports and services in the building.

Based on the standards outlined by the National Association of School Psychologists, the successful candidate will have experience and responsibilities as follows:

Consultation

•Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to find effective solutions to learning, social, emotional and behavioral challenges.
•Help others understand child development and how it affects learning and behavior.

Evaluation

•Evaluate students for eligibility for special education services.
•Assess academic skills and aptitude for learning.
•Determine social-emotional development and mental health status.

Intervention

•Provide skilled and evidence-based counseling to help resolve interpersonal or other challenges that interfere with school performance.
•Work directly with students individually or in small groups to help resolve problems in adjustment and learning.
•Provide explicit and direct training in social skills and behavior management.
•Help families and schools manage crises such as death, illness, or community trauma.

Prevention

•Promote tolerance, understanding, and appreciation of diversity within the school community.
•Develop programs to make schools safer and more effective learning environments.

Research and Planning

•Use evidence-based research to develop and/or recommend effective interventions.

Candidate will have experience as a school psychologist in the public school and be familiar with special education process, eligibility, laws and regulations.

Massachusetts DESE license as School Psychologist required.

    Job Requirements

    • At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
    • Master degree preferred
