JOB SUMMARY


The Instructional Coach is a critical lever in improving student achievement. The role of the coach is to build teacher capacity and their understanding of high yielding instructional practices. An instructional coach is a learner who models continuous improvement, lifelong learning, and goes above and beyond to ensure student success. The instructional coachwork collaboratively as a team with the Chief Academic Officer, principals, and building leadership team. Instructional coaches will promote reflection, provide guidance and structure where needed, and aid in the alignment of instruction with curriculum standards and assessment tools under the direction of the Chief Academic Officer and Principal.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


Instructional Coach:


  • Enhance culture of collaboration where strengths or weaknesses in student learning are identified and responses for improved student learning are put in
  • Model lessons in classrooms on a daily/weekly May be assigned teaching responsibilities to stay connected to the current realities of teaching
  • Develop a coach plan with teachers for improving student
  • Work with instructional team to assists teachers in analyzing classroom and state assessment data to advise teacher's in the educational
  • Provide demonstration lessons in curriculum and teaching techniques for classroom teachers and others as required.
  • Build strong relationships with teachers, administrators, and other
  • Coach teachers in implementing district and building learning objectives, instructional strategies, and assessment techniques.
  • Work with instructional team to research "best practices" and effective teaching
  • Motivate and encourage principals and other staff to implement innovative instruction learning strategies
  • Assist instruction by providing for systematic observation and feedback of the effectiveness of
  • Utilize Adult Learning Theory to motivate adult learners to improve professional
  • Contribute to the development systems and structures to improve teacher practice within
  • Provide job-embedded informal professional learning beyond the coaching
  • Works with and/or under the supervision of the Chief Academic Officer to aid in the alignment and organization of district curriculum.

School/Organization:


 

  • Attend weekly instructional team Also available to support teachers during plan times and multiple timeframes during the day (before/after school)
  • Periodically attend evening meetings and periodically work a flexible
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills in relating to Chief Academic Officer, principals, teachers, and instructional team
  • Adhere to all Board policies and School Administrative policies and procedures
  • Practice professional ethics according to local, State and district codes
  • Operate office equipment including computers, copier,
  • Serve on school committees as instructed by

 

 

Professional Development:

  • Work under the direction of the Chief Academic Officer to provide training and professional development for all school personnel {district & building PD)
  • Attend professional conferences and workshops approved by Supervisor
  • Submit presentations to supervisor to present at professional conferences and workshops
  • Prepare reports and conduct research as requested by Supervisor
  • Other duties concerning Professional Development as assigned

 

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Master's degree
  • Valid Missouri State teacher's
  • Five years successful experience as a
  • Experience administering standardized
  • Experience in facilitating and training groups of adults in an educational

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES


  • Knowledge of educational philosophy, educational law, educational research, methods and techniques of instruction, professional development, current educational issues, policies and procedures of district, state, and federal government.
  • Knowledge of effective adult learning
