Job Description

TITLE: Payroll Technician

REPORTS TO: Director of Finance

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School Degree required. Associates Degree in Accounting or Business preferred.

2.Must have successful employment experience with responsibility in bookkeeping/payroll and/or accounting.

3.Demonstrated proficiency with computer technology and software required, preferably Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel Access).

4.Thorough knowledge of basic office practices and procedures.

5.Communication skills necessary to deal with employees, vendors and the public in a professional manner.

6.Must maintain strictest standard of confidentiality.

7.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Review employees’ time sheets for hours worked, sick and vacation days used and insure time is properly recorded.

2.Prepare annual substitute reporting rollover and update attendance for calendar and attendance balances for upcoming school year.

3.Maintain all payroll file maintenance. Process employee inquiries regarding payroll/personnel issues including 403B, direct deposit, and W-4 forms.

4.Prepare and submit ACA documentation to the payroll company for 1095 processing.

5.Set up payroll Excel worksheets, input hours to proper departments and process payroll adjustments for all NRIC staff.

6.Process payroll and related reporting, as necessary, on a bi-weekly basis.

7.Orient all new employees to the system including tax deductions, benefits enrollment, tax sheltered annuities, retirement issues and section 125 pre-tax deductions where applicable.

8.Prepare payroll verifications of employment and wage statements for the Department of Labor and Training.

9.Prepare payroll wage verifications for the Retirement Board, TDI, The Trust and Housing.

10.Maintain all employee personnel files in accordance with Federal and State law.

11.Prepare and submit all ERSRI post-retirement information.

12.Maintain sick leave pool records.

13.Create the NRIC Special Assignment Bill-Out Report for one-on-one Special Assignments and develop the monthly billing for school departments.

14.First contact for staff reporting employees’ injuries. Inform employees regarding the policy to follow for those who wish to seek medical attention. Contact Urgent Care to inform them of the injured employee arrival and provide NRIC insurance carrier information.

15.Coordinate CPI trainings and develop billing for participating schools.

16.Coordinate substitute custodial staff to cover shifts when custodial employees are unavailable for work.

17. Ensure that the Technology Office receives notifications of new hires and terminations
to effectively manage email accounts.

18.May perform other duties as required by the Controller, Director of Finance, and/or the Executive Director.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve Months

SALARY: As determined by the Board of Superintendents

HOURS: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
