Job Description

A long-term substitute Pre-K teacher is needed to cover classroom until the anticipated return of the teacher from maternity leave.

The anticipated start date for this position is mid-December 2022.

Job Goal:Provide appropriate preschool curriculum striving to ensure that the students meet the appropriate readiness for entrance into Kindergarten.

Supervision:Reports to the Building Principal.

Performance Responsibilities:

1.Plans and implements a program that follows the approved curriculum standards, goals and objectives.
2.Uses effective teaching techniques, materials and educational experiences to support instruction within curriculum guidelines.
3.Provides enrichment events and activities related to curriculum.
4.Monitors and assesses student progress in order to provide feedback on a regular basis to students, their parents and administration.
5.Establishes and maintains fair and just standards for student behavior needed to achieve an effective and safe learning environment.
6.Observe, record, and analyze children’s progress toward desired developmental outcomes.
7.Use on-going observation and documentation methods to assess children’s progress, growth, and development.
8.Communicate with students, parents, and peers in an efficient manner.
9.Implement any other programs designated by the building principal for school improvement.

    • Required: BACHELOR’S DEGREE. Experience with and knowledge of Early Childhood curriculum, standards and procedures. Preference will be given to those licensed by Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Early Childhood; Pre-K-2.

      This position is for the school year only.

      Physical Requirements:The position requires a moderate amount of walking, standing, sitting and climbing stairs and step stool whenever necessary. Activities also include moderate physical exertion in body movement such as reaching, bending, twisting, grasping, pushing, and pulling of objects. The position requires lifting objects of 20 pounds on a frequent basis, and over 20 pounds occasionally. There is a frequent requirement of fine manipulation associated with the required use of a computer, typewriter, keyboard, calculator, and other business machines.

      Environmental Conditions: The occupant is required to work indoors. The regular chemical solvents are toners, inks, and cleaning fluids.
