Job Description

TITLE: Computer Technician - Information Technology Team
REPORTS TO: Quincy Public Schools I.T. Systems Administrator
ROLE DESCRIPTION: Quincy Public Schools Computer Technicians serve as the primary Information Technology Computer Technicians for Quincy Public Schools and are responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and upgrading computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment. The Technicians also prepare documentation associated with desktop and hardware applications.
    1.Install, assemble and configure computers, monitors, and peripherals such as printers, scanners, projectors, and other related hardware
    2.Repair and upgrade computer-related equipment as needed
    3.Research current and potential resources and services for staff and students
    4.Complete installation of District approved hardware
    5.Replace identified hardware and prepare hardware for return delivery to the service provider
    6.Install, configure and upgrade operating systems and district approved software
    7.Create/install computer images
    8.Troubleshoot computer systems connected to LAN/WAN environment
    9.Work with schools and departments in resolving network printing configuration issues, malfunctioning equipment, and network connection issues related to network printing
    10.Escalate application issues to appropriate personnel and provide appropriate documentation of troubleshooting steps completed via centralized help desk (Track-IT)
    11.Perform helpdesk related functions and utilize various software applications to troubleshoot remote computers
    12.Train staff about potential uses of existing technology
    13.Provide individual training and support on request
    14.Participate in planning, scheduling, and executing computer equipment installations, upgrades, and replacement projects
    15.Assist and support the district’s 1:1 device initiatives
    16.Perform additional related duties as assigned by the Superintendent, Principal, and/or the Technical Supervisor.

      1.Equivalent to completion of two years of college-level coursework in computer science, information technology, computer networking, or related field
      2.Recommend at least one of the following Certifications ~ CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, and/or Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)
      3.Computer hardware and software troubleshooting
      4.Knowledge of networking concepts, devices, and security
      5.Wired and wireless networks
      6.Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Microsoft Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft Exchange
      7.Team-building skills
      8.Analytical and problem solving and decision-making skills
      9.Effective verbal, presentation, and listening communications skills
      10.Effective written communications skills

    WORK SCHEDULE: In-person and Fifty-two (52) weeks, with applicable contractual holidays and vacations.

    Salary Range: : Salary will be at Level 4T of the current agreement between the Quincy School Committee and the Quincy Educational Employees Union. Starting salary is $46,953.03
