POSITION TITLE: School Psychologist–Part-Time

LOCATION:  Walton Elementary School 


  • Master’s or Doctorate Level degree in School Psychology
  • Licensed in the state of MA 
  • Experience working with and evaluating elementary students preferred 

Wakefield Public Schools is seeking a talented school psychologist to work part-time at Walton Elementary School, which educates over 200 students in grades K-4. 

The following are the main responsibilities–



  • Work alongside our teachers and therapist as part of a collaborative team
  • Participate in/follow all federal and state mandated procedures and timelines for the identification of students requiring special education services within the school setting, including the administration of appropriate formal and informal assessment tools/measures based on the suspected area of disability 
  • Develop relevant portions of IEPs for students that are determined eligible for counseling services. This includes the creation of short and long-term goals, based on assessment data and targeted curriculum standards 
  • Plan and prepare educationally relevant treatment plans that meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students 
  • Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers and educational staff regarding plans to enhance academic and behavioral development of students with disabilities 
  • Interpret psych-educational evaluation findings and communicate recommendations at Team meetings
  • Consult and collaborate with parents, school staff, and outside personnel regarding mental health, behavioral and educational concerns, including prevention-oriented approaches
  • Participate in behavioral intervention planning, including functional behavioral assessments, behavioral intervention plans, and manifestation determinations, as required by IDEA
  • Provide crisis intervention, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by Special Education Director, building Principal,, and/or Special Education Coordinator
