Position: Adult Education Supervisor

 



Location: Community Education Center



 

Reports To: Director of Community Education



 

 

Position Summary:

 

The Adult Education Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of programming that Utica Community Schools offers adults.  This program includes, but is not limited to, English as a Second Language and High School Completion. Responsibilities include curriculum development, course evaluation, supervision and staff development, record keeping, and reporting to the Director of Community Education. The Adult Education Supervisor is a part of the program’s management team and serves as a strategic partner in planning and implementing the future vision for the District.

 


  • Master of Arts in Educational Leadership or Administrative degree is preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field. 
  • Valid Secondary Michigan Teaching Certificate. 
  • A deep understanding of curriculum, data, and instruction. 
  • At least two (2) years of experience teaching adults of diverse backgrounds. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to perform multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced, challenging, and constantly changing environment. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of the barriers and challenges facing adult education populations. 
  • Personal and professional integrity.

 



Job Description:


  • Act as the immediate supervisor for instructional staff and designated personnel in the Adult Education and English as a Second Language program.
  • Direct and administer a program that meets the educational needs of adult participants. Review and evaluate delivery of services on an ongoing basis. Recommend changes to improve service delivery and ensure program goals are being met.
  • Define, measure, and evaluate program performance data and create continuous improvement based on performance data.
  • Evaluate instructor performance through classroom observations and identify areas of training needed. 
  • Collaborate with internal and external resources to facilitate professional development. 
  • Direct and initiate efforts to expand adult education programs for emerging populations. 
  • Serve as counselor to adult students to assure that enrollment and achievement in courses are appropriate to their educational goals and objectives.
  • Recruit, interview, and makes recommendations to the Director for the employment of teaching and support staff. 
  • Develop and maintain syllabi, course mapping, and pacing guides.
  • Ensure student records and files are accurately maintained.
  • Maintain knowledge of district policies and procedures, collective bargaining procedures, and grant reporting guidelines and regulations. 
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Community Education.  
  • Evening building supervisor.
