Location: The Kent Elementary school TEAM believes in daily excellence from students and staff. We serve a culturally diverse population of students from Kindergarten through 6th grades. Kent Elementary is located at 24700 64th Avenue South in the downtown Kent area. Our average enrollment is 650 students with approximately 4 classes per grade level. The school enjoys strong support with 1 full-time instructional interventionist, an ELL Instruction coach, an ESSER Instructional Coach, band/music/orchestra teachers, physical education specialists, librarian, counselor and psychologist. Special programs at Kent Elementary include: dual language programming, an Inclusive Education Support Center, school-wide Title/LAP program, Paraeducator academic intervention support in classrooms, Odyssey [highly capable] programs for 3rd through 6th, ACE for 1st and 2nd, and English Language Learner support in classrooms. Kent Elementary offers some of the most up to date technology for instruction and learning. The staff is extremely welcoming, collaborative and innovative with diverse experiences. It is a community with high expectations for all students and staff.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This position is for the Spanish speaking partner in kindergarten.
Under the direction of the principal, this position provides the leadershipto plan, organize, and present instruction and instructional environments that help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development in becoming fully bilingual, biliterate, and bicultural within a 50/50 dual language program.
Major duties of the teacher include, but are not limited to: management of instructional time; management of student behavior; instructional presentation; instructional monitoring of student performance; instructional feedback; facilitating instruction; interacting within the educational environment; and performing non-instructional duties. Essential job duties are as follows:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree.
Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English.
Washington endorsement in one of the following areas; Bilingual Education or Elementary Education.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in related field.
Proven successful experience in working with bilingual education.
Proven successful experience teaching in urban public education.
Proven successful experience in an ethnically diverse public school district.
Proven successful experience in working and learning in a Professional Learning Community.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of:
Current research-based strategies and instructional programs for students in a diverse, multi-cultural environment.
Principles, practices, trends, goals, and objectives of public education and bilingual education.
Research, best practices and technical aspects of field of specialty.
Effective facilitation skills for various professional interactions with adults.
Research methods and report writing techniques.
Record-keeping techniques.
District organization, operations, policies, and procedures.
Educational and business technology programs, procedures and methods, computer equipment, and computer software necessary to perform required duties.
