Job Description
POSITION: Library Paraprofessional
JOB GOALS: The Library Paraprofessional provides support to students in the library/media center during the school day and under the direction of the Building Principal and Director of Digital Learning, manages the activities of the library/media center.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree
Experience working with Middle School Children
Love of Literature and specific knowledge of children’s literature
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with children and adults
Familiarity with computer operations and instructional technology resources
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Promotes a love of reading and lifelong learning
Provides classroom management for classes using the library
Assists students and staff in locating library materials
Processes, catalogs, and circulates books and other print and non-print library materials, including mobile technology devices
Maintains and updates the collection
Shelves books
Manage and list the books for elementary school students, with a developmental and culturally proficient lens
Coordinate Book fair
Introduces basic library skills and usage, including research skills, using Google, etc.
Coordinate Author visits
Participates in professional development
Advocates for the Library through an effective public relations program
Assist in the development and maintenance of the library collection, including the purchase, cataloguing, processing and inventory of materials
Collaborates with fundraising efforts to support the library/media center
Other responsibilities as assigned by the principal or designee
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 183 Days, school year
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
SALARY/BENEFITS: In accordance with the AEA Paraprofessional Collective Bargaining Agreement
