Job Description

QUALIFICATION: 

  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Qualified or Certified by Massachusetts Department of Education

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement individual educational plans
  • Use of focused and targeted data collection to support goals and benchmarks in IEP
  • Create lessons to develop abilities and skills for academic progress 
  • Endorse appropriate inclusive schedules and activities
  • Develop and initiate experiences leading to independence and self sufficiency
  • Work on communication skills with students by developing strategies (low tech, assistive technology)  
  • Develop readiness and life skills
  • Perform assessments for special education students to determine eligibility 
  • Encourage appropriate behavior skills by utilizing strategies and invention plans
  • Facilitate social skill groups or activities within the classroom setting
  • Liaise with the general education teachers to provide an enriching inclusive learning environment
  • Consultation with other team members on students’ behalf
  • Coordinate schedules for related service provision 
  • Maintain on-going records as required
  • Act as liaison between teachers and parents
  • Maintain close contact and open communication with parents
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn sign language
  • Perform all such duties as recommended by Superintendent or his/her designee
