?The Orleans Central Supervisory Union is comprised of two school districts (Lake Region Union Elementary-Middle School and Lake Region Union High School) supporting six K-8 elementary schools, the Orleans Central Early Childhood Program, and Lake Region Union High School.

Orleans Central Supervisory Union is located in the heart of the Northeast Kingdom which is known for its scenic and rugged area of hills, sugarbushes, farmland and lakes. While our communities are small, they are truly that, a community that people are proud to be a part of. While we are rural, scenic drives will land you at Burke Mountain, Craftsbury Outdoor Center, and Jay Peak for skiing, opportunities, mountain biking at Kingdom Trails, fishing at the local lakes, and other outdoor activities. Our area is known for its sugar houses, which features Sugar on Snow in early spring, offering enjoyment for all ages.

Albany Community School is a rural school with about 90 students enrolled in kindergarten through eighth grade. We have a beautiful 50 acre campus that includes mountain biking trails with a pump track, a beaver pond for observations, and XC ski trails in the winter. Teachers enjoy using the land to enhance student learning. Our vision is, “ We strive to provide an environment where students will develop to their fullest.” We live this by creating meaningful learning opportunities on our school grounds and in the community.

We are looking for a kind and supportive counselor to join our dedicated team. Our school counselor will be able to build strong relationships and rapport with students as well as work closely with our SEL specialist and principal on an educational support team. They will promote student success, provide preventive services, and respond to identified student needs by implementing a comprehensive school program. This includes teaching class lessons, leading small student groups, as well as individualized sessions. We have the most success in this role with counselors who are able to build rapport quickly with students and holistically work with the student to meet their unique needs. They assist students with problems and decisions so that they better understand themselves and how to succeed academically and socially. They also serve as a resource for parents/guardians, teachers, and other adults involved with the students, and as a member of our collaborative school teams.

- Curriculum
- Collaborates with other educators in the implementation of the curriculum
- Implements developmentally appropriate and prevention-oriented group activities to meet student needs and school goals
- Incorporates into the program the life skills that students need to be successful in the twenty-first century

Individual Student Planning
- Assists all students, individually or in groups, with developing academic, career and personal/social skills, goals, and plans (including implementing PLPs)
- Accurately and appropriately interprets and utilizes student data
- Collaborates with parents/guardians and educators to assist students with educational, career, and life planning

Preventive and Responsive Services
- Provides individual and group services to students with identified concerns/needs
- Consults and collaborates effectively with parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and other educational/community resources
- Implements an effective referral and follow-up process as needed

System Support
- Coordinates specific programs and/or supports throughout the school community
- Assists teachers, parents/guardians, and other stakeholders in interpreting and understanding student data
- Collaborate with the school team to adequately monitor and support student activities
- Participates in professional learning activities to improve knowledge and skills
- Uses available technology resources to enhance the school counseling program
- Adheres to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the school counseling profession
