POSITION TITLE: Instructional Support Personnel (1:1) 

LOCATION:  Galvin Middle School 

QUALIFICATION: 

  • Minimum High school diploma/GED; Associated Degree or higher preferred 
  • Experience working with middle school students with social, emotional, and/or behavioral needs preferred 
  • Excellent oral, written, and communication skills 

 

Wakefield Public Schools is looking for a dependable, initiative, responsible, and organized paraprofessional to work at the Galvin Middle School. This position is to work as a 1:1 paraprofessional for a student in grade 5. 

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work under the direction of the classroom teacher and special education teacher
  • Assist in the delivery of instruction and the implementation of the IEP Goals and objectives
  • Ensure the safety of students in all environments
  • Assist in facilitating independence, social awareness, language and appropriate behavior
  • Assist the teacher in the collection of data
  • Lead and/or support direct instruction to students individually, in small groups, and in inclusion settings
  • Monitor and assist students as needed in their daily routines across classroom activities and/or settings
  • Assist individual students as necessary to follow routines, follow directions, follow an individual schedule, and/or complete tasks
  • Communicate effectively and in a professional manner with general education staff when assigned
  • Other duties as assigned 

REPORTS TO: Building Principal 

SALARY: Commensurate with Wakefield Public Schools’ Unit C salary schedule
